Eiffel tower is present in Paris, France. It was built by the engineer Gustave Eiffel. So it is named after him as the Eiffel tower. Famous for its magical aura, it’s one of the most beautiful sights ever.

1. Eiffel tower construction took 2 years, 2 months and 5 days to complete the construction.

2. The weight of Eiffel tower is 10,000,000 kilograms or 22 million pounds.

3. Eiffel tower has achieved two titles for its height. It was the first structure in the world to surpass the height of 200 meters. And second, it is the first structure of 300 meters.

4. Eiffel tower retained the title of world’s tallest building. Eiffel tower retained the title of world’s tallest building only for 41 years, after that Chrysler building became the world’s tallest building in 1930.

5. Height of Eiffel tower is 324 meters tall.

6. It took almost 50,000 kilograms of paint to coat the tower that is 110 tons.

7. Three colours were used to coat the Eiffel tower and it gives the proper perspective from the ground and it gives the same colour as top to the bottom.

8. Eiffel tower is regularly painted. It is painted every six or seven years after and last time it was painted in 2021.

9. The iron lady which we see now is golden brown in color, but for the 1900 exposition universelle, it was painted yellow color.

11. There are three levels in Eiffel tower and it’s over 1700 steps but now it is not allowed to walk till there but we can walk upto level two which is around 700 steps.

12. From the bottom to first level it is upto 57 meters, the second level is 115 meters and level three is 274 meters, roughly it is 200 feet, 400 feet and 900 feet.

13. At the Exposition universelle, it was opened in 1889, staged to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French revolution.

14. The elevator trip from level two to level three is originally made in two parts, passengers have to change the cars from halfway upto the narrow part of the tower.

15. In 1999, the hourly sparkly light display was added to the tower for the celebration of the new millennium. Around 20,000 light Bulbs were used for it.

16. The Eiffel tower light display is copyrighted under French law and due to that it is illegal to publish the unapproved pictures of the Eiffel tower light display at least in French.

17. In 1914, The Eiffel tower was instrumental during the battle of the Marne when signals were sent from the tower to direct French troops to the front lines.

18. Two million people visited the Eiffel tower at the time of its inauguration during exposition universelle in 1889, after that 250 million people visited but not at the same time.

19. Visitors visit the sight each year. Around 9 million people visited the Eiffel tower each year until 2020.

20. It was meant to be temporary. Yes it’s true the Eiffel tower was made temporary for the 1889 world fair which was held in Paris to commemorate 100 years of French revolution.it did not break down Because of the antenna at the top which provides the wireless signal.

21. Gustave Eiffel didn’t design the Eiffel tower; it was designed by two senior engineers who worked in his company and their names are Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier but the investment was done by Gustave Eiffel and he brought the rights to the patent.

22. The Eiffel tower was hated by the Paris people. People of Paris hated the Eiffel tower first.

23. Hitler had given the order to demolish the tower. In 1944 when Hitler was about to lose Paris to the allied forces he had given the order to demolish the whole city including the tower but the military governor hadn’t followed his order.

24. The Eiffel tower has a connection to Bollywood. Not because of the film shoot it is connected to Bollywood, but because the engineer Maurice Koechlin is the great grandfather of bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin.
