Introduction: all know that biryani is the most loved dish for any Indian. You eat biryani either to deal with your stress or to satisfy your craving. But what about knowing some fun facts about biryani?! Isn’t it exciting?

1. Biryani is not a dish that was introduced by Mughals in India. It is the native dish of Indians. Earlier it was known by the name Mansodan, where meat and spices were added to boiled rice and mixed well and then served.

2. Biryani became the most googled dish in the year 2020 by Indians, amongst which the Hyderabadi and Awadhi Biryani topped the list.

3.There are various methods of cooking biryani. Like Dum Pukht Biryani, Steamed Biryani, Charcoal Biryani.

4. The rice used in Biryani also differs from region to region. Like in North India, Basmati is being used whereas in the Southern Part of the country kaala Bhaat, Samba and Kaimba is being used.

5. There are different tastes and versions of biryani that have been found all over India. But out of them 8 are loved ones. They are Hyderabadi, lucknawi, Kolkata, Awadhi, Thallaseray, Malabar, Dindigul and Ambur.

6. There is a perennial or never ending debate on whether biryani with veggies is considered to be veg biryani or pulao.

7. Though meat or chicken is the prime ingredient of biryani along with rice. Apart from it other ingredients are also used like eggs, prawn, lamb meat or fish. Also corn is used depending on season. Along with his spices like nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, bayleaf, onions, oil, chillies, tomatoes, garlic, ginger etc.

8. Biryani got its name from the Persian word Birian which means fried before cooking.

9. Whether the Biryani is a chicken one or a mutton one but both helps you to detoxify your body.

10.;The biryani whether it is a Awadhi one or a Thallaseray one. Each of them acts as a antioxidant which is pretty good for human health.

11. There is a dish in Tamil Literature which is known by the name of Oon-Soru which is coincidentally similar to biryani.

12. The great Indian Batsman of India MS Dhoni is a huge Biryani Lover. One of his team mate had brought him biryani when the cricketers and his friends where staying at Hotel Kakatia at Hyderabad. The person was not allowed to carry biryani into the hotel premises. Out of fit of rage Dhoni changed their staying from the luxurious Kakatia to Hotel Taj Krishna.

13. The DMK party in 2009 Bypolls had distributed Biryani packets to common mass to work them in order to woo them. After this the DMK party won the elections in Hyderabad with a good Margin.

15. Biryani was introduced in the UK to South Asians by the Bengalis.
